Thinking outside the bun
Well, in the latest effort to drag Flagstaff into the modern age, we have been inflicted with a Long John Silvers
. These things don't exist stand alone any more though. After merging with A&W Rootbeer, they then were subsumed by YUM
which is basically Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC smashed together. (All brought together by pepsi, back when making corporations twice as large and ten times harder to manage was all the rage). So you'll only find LJS as part of the new standalone mini-mall-less food court. Ours is packaged with a Taco Bell.
The food hasn't changed much in the twenty years since the last little town I was living in grew enough to get its own Long John's. (That would be Clovis, in 1978) Its still greasy, and low budget, though the decor is has been upgraded slightly. The cool thing was my wife could stay home, as she had used the web to perused the menu online and made her selection. Ah, the wonders of modern technology.
