When life gives you lemon solar cells, make an ark?
Sanyo is probably one of the bigger names in solar panels. Their cells have the highest effeciencies (18.5%), and they make a ton of them (5MW just for US use alone in 2003). However in 2000 they ran into trouble when their Japanese customers discovered that the modules were not meeting government mandated negative tolerances (ok, I'm not sure what that means).

Anyway, they had to take all those solar cells back. But instead of dumping all the bad panels which they could no longer sell, they made an ark.
Hmmm. Think of all the defective Pentium chips that could run...
